What exactly are the costs of owning an electric car, find out in this post.
The new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Volkswagen Golf 8 GTE has arrived. It’s better than ever before combining both a TSI engine with an electric motor to offer a superb driving experience every day! Let’s take a look at the electric range & features below…
Electric Range & Engine
As the new Golf GTE is a PHEV it offers a 1.4 litre TSI petrol engine as well as an electric motor. The battery is located under the rear seat and when it’s fully charged it offers up to 38 miles (based on WLTP) of pure electric range. For many people, this range will cover their daily commute; plug it in every night when you’re home and you’ll be able to manage a whole week without using any petrol.
The Volkswagen Golf GTE suits drivers who currently have ‘range anxiety’ associated with fully electric cars. Once you’ve used your 38 electric miles, the petrol engine kicks in and starts to use your fuel.
A full charge of the Golf GTE takes around 5 hours. Find your nearest charging station at Zap-Map.
With a top speed of 140mph the Golf GTE accelerates from 0-62mph in just 6.7 seconds, that’s almost as quick as the Golf GTI.
The Volkswagen Golf GTE offers advanced quality specification. As standard the GTE includes every piece of specification you’d find on the Golf R-Line and more! Let’s take a look at some of the extras…
The Driving Profile Selection includes ‘GTE’ mode which uses both the petrol engine and electric motor to give a powerful performance with plenty of punch. When engaged, GTE Mode has an imposing engine sound.
Lane Assist with Road Edge Recognition not only recognises lane markings to ensure your vehicle doesn’t drift out of its lane but it also detects kerbs and grass verges. Should you start to veer out of your lane the system takes over and steers you back into your driving lane.
The Travel Assist safety feature uses both a camera and radar sensor controlled lane guidance system to allow partially assisted driving as long as the driver is in contact capacitive touch sensitive steering wheel. Also within the Travel Assist system is the Rear Traffic Alert. This is a warning system which activates when you’re reversing out of parking spaces/driveways. The system will intervene if the driver does not react.
